Together we can
rock 'n' roll!
Quo-caine formed in Autumn 2004 from a group of friends, most of whom had been in various bands together previously. The idea was to initially get together for a jam, just for the sake of playing good music. Then someone (a contentious issue as to who) raised the idea of a Status Quo cover band as it was a mutual interest throughout the band members.
With this seemingly strong advantage we set about rehearsing and building a set list. As the sounds became more authentic and timing became more precise there was a good vibe throughout the band and there was definitely something special happening.
Quo fans are a very loyal bunch, so we were aware that replicating their music would be harshly criticised. We do not attempt to strongly replicate the Quo look – wearing wigs is not the done thing for us! However, from an outsider's point of view, our attention to detail looks precise and very authentic. A great deal of time has gone into creating replicas of Francis Rossi's and Rick Parfitt's battered Fender Telecasters. The instruments, along with jeans, white trainers, a waistcoat and a variety of excellent shirts, are instantly recognizeable to any Quo fan!
The recreation of an authentic sound is obviously the most important aspect to Quo-caine. But don't take our for it – come and judge for yourself by checking out our gig list. We're sure that anyone who attends a show (which lasts at least two hours) will be converted to the power and vastly underated musicianship of the mighty Quo!
There is an infectious good time, rock 'n' roll vibe within Quo-caine which is quick to project itself when we play live. Give us a dance floor and we'll fill it!
